✅ Eligibility Criteria

  • (a) Only Indian Nationals are eligible.
  • (b) Educational qualification as per the vacancy table above, from a recognized Board/University.
  • (c) Only candidates who passed the qualifying examination in the last five years — 2022, 2023, 2024, 2025 or 2026 — are eligible.
  • (d) Candidates who appeared in the qualifying exam but whose results are not declared/available as on the last date of application submission are NOT eligible.
  • (e) Candidates with a higher qualification than that specified are NOT eligible.
  • (f) Only candidates who completed the qualifying examination as regular candidates are eligible.
  • (g) Age: minimum 18 years. Maximum age and relaxation as per the Apprentices Act 1961, Apprentice Rules 1992, and NATS 2.0 Guidelines.
  • (h) Candidates who have already undergone/are currently undergoing apprenticeship training anywhere, or who have 1 year or more of job experience after attaining the essential qualification, are NOT eligible.
  • (i) PwBD candidates are eligible only for trades designated under Apprenticeship Rules 1992.
  • (j) Candidates must ensure they meet all eligibility conditions themselves before applying.

  1. Degree candidates must first register on the NATS 2.0 portal, then apply offline using the application form available at drdo.gov.in/drdo/en/offerings/vacancies.
  2. Only offline applications will be accepted. Online-only submission is not sufficient — the filled form must reach HEMRL by post.
  3. Incomplete/erroneous applications, or applications received after the last date, will be rejected, with no further communication entertained.
  4. Marks in the qualifying exam must be stated as a percentage. If your marksheet shows CGPA only, convert it to percentage as per your university's norms (this may be verified at document verification).

  • A. Depending on vacancies available per category/discipline, selection is by shortlisting on academic merit / written test / interview / walk-in interview, or a combination, subject to satisfactory document verification.
  • B. HEMRL reserves the right to adopt its own shortlisting method and is not obliged to shortlist every candidate who meets the minimum requirement — meeting eligibility does not guarantee selection.
  • C. The Director, HEMRL reserves the right to increase/decrease the number of vacancies, or withdraw the advertisement/cancel the selection process, without assigning any reason.
  • D. Reservations apply per the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprentice Rules 1992 (as amended).
  • E. Canvassing/influencing in any form leads to disqualification.

At Document Verification (original + one self-attested photocopy set):

  • Ink-signed printout of the application
  • NATS 2.0 profile, signed copy
  • Marksheets & Certificates (original or provisional) from 10th up to the minimum educational qualification specified in the vacancy table
  • Aadhaar Card/Photo ID proof and Address proof
  • Two recent passport-size colour photographs (6x7)
  • SC/ST/OBC (Non-Creamy Layer), PwBD & EWS certificates issued by Competent Authority, if applicable

  • Valid Police Verification certificate from place of last residence and permanent address
  • "Certificate of Physical Fitness" in the prescribed format, issued by an authorised Medical Officer of a Government Hospital

  • Selected candidates must execute a one-year training contract per the Apprentices Act 1961 and Apprentice Rules 1992.
  • Training duration is one year from the date the apprenticeship contract is executed (signed).
  • Selected candidates will be informed by email with joining instructions; candidates not selected will receive no correspondence.
  • Selection is deemed final only after online approval of the contract by the competent authority; a document-related discrepancy blocking that approval means the apprenticeship is deemed cancelled, with no liability on the Director, HEMRL.
  • Candidates who don't report by the scheduled date are assumed uninterested, and their candidature may be forfeited without further communication.
  • Candidates/trainees found not meeting eligibility conditions, or found to have submitted false/forged documents, will be disqualified/cancelled immediately.
  • No employment (permanent/temporary/contractual) is offered at HEMRL or DRDO after completion of apprenticeship training — no apprentice can claim this.
  • No TA/DA/accommodation/transport/medical facilities will be provided at any stage of selection or during training.
  • Selected candidates must abide by rules and regulations framed by the Administration from time to time.
