Can You Apply for Both Generalist & Hindi Officer?

No. A candidate can apply and appear for either Generalist or Hindi Officer — not both. Multiple registrations/appearances can result in cancellation of candidature.

Candidates who are already serving as Administrative Officer (Scale-I) in United India Insurance Company Limited are also not eligible to apply under this recruitment.

UIIC AO Generalist Qualification 2026

For the Generalist discipline, the notification accepts a Graduate Degree / Post Graduate qualification in any discipline from a recognised university.

Examples mentioned by UIIC include:

  • Engineering
  • Arts
  • Science
  • Commerce
  • Agriculture
  • Data Science
  • Other recognised disciplines

Candidates should have secured at least:

  • 60% marks for the applicable general categories, or
  • 55% marks for SC/ST/PwBD candidates, as specified by UIIC.

The required qualification must have been completed on or before 30 June 2026.

Result-date rule: Candidates who had appeared in their final qualifying examination by 30 June 2026 but whose result was declared only after that date are not eligible.

UIIC Hindi Officer Qualification 2026

Hindi Officer candidates need a Master's Degree with one of the prescribed Hindi-English combinations and the required marks.

The notification provides the following broad eligibility routes:

  • Master's Degree in Hindi with English as a compulsory/ elective subject or medium at degree level.
  • Master's Degree in English with Hindi as a compulsory/ elective subject or medium at degree level.
  • Master's Degree in another subject with Hindi medium and English as the prescribed subject/medium at degree level.
  • Master's Degree in another subject with English medium and Hindi as the prescribed subject/medium at degree level.
  • Master's Degree in another subject where Hindi and English satisfy the combination prescribed in the official notification.

Minimum marks are 60%, reduced to 55% for SC/ST/PwBD candidates.

Hindi Officer candidates should read the exact qualification wording in the notification before applying. Unlike the Generalist post, eligibility depends not only on having a Master's Degree but also on the Hindi/English subject and medium combination at the appropriate academic level.

CGPA / Percentage Important Rule

Where a university awards CGPA/OGPA/SGPA rather than percentage marks, candidates may need an official certificate explaining the conversion to percentage.

UIIC specifically states that fractions will be ignored. For example, 59.99% will be treated as less than 60%.

Working knowledge of computers is mandatory.

UIIC AO Age Limit 2026

Age will be calculated as on 30 June 2026.

  • Minimum Age: 21 years
  • Maximum Age: 30 years

The notification states that candidates should have been born not earlier than 30 June 1996 and not later than 30 June 2005, both dates inclusive, subject to applicable relaxation.

Age Relaxation

Category Relaxation
SC / ST 5 Years
OBC — Non-Creamy Layer 3 Years
PwBD 10 Years
Eligible Ex-Servicemen / ECOs / SSCOs 5 Years
Specified Defence Service Personnel Disabled in Operations 3 Years
Widows / Divorced Women / Legally Separated Women who have not remarried 9 Years

Where a candidate qualifies for more than one applicable relaxation, cumulative relaxation can apply subject to a maximum age of 45 years.

You can use the Sarkari Nokrii Age Calculator to check your age against the 30 June 2026 cut-off.

Applicants other than SC / ST / PwBD / Permanent UIIC Employees ₹1,000 + applicable GST
SC / ST / PwBD / Permanent Employees of UIIC Application Fee Nil + ₹250 Service Charges + GST
Female-candidate fee warning: The notification does not provide a separate general fee exemption simply for being female. Candidates should follow the category table above rather than assuming the fee rules used in some other government examinations.

Application fee/service charges are non-refundable.

UIIC AO Salary 2026

The Administrative Officer Scale-I pay scale is:

₹82,485 – 4,050(14) – ₹1,39,185 – 4,390(4) – ₹1,56,745

Other applicable benefits may include:

  • Gratuity
  • LTS
  • Medical Benefits
  • Group Personal Accident Insurance
  • National Pension System (NPS)

⚠️ Five-Year Initial Posting Rule

The notification contains a particularly important posting condition. Vacancies are stated to be substantially in the Western and Southern Zones, and selected candidates are likely to be posted mainly in these regions.

The initial posting period will be for a minimum of five years, during which requests for transfer to a candidate's place of choice will not be entertained.

UIIC nevertheless retains the right to post or transfer selected candidates to any location in India depending on organisational requirements.

Practical candidate advice: Do not apply assuming you will receive a posting close to your home state. Candidates who cannot realistically relocate or remain in a Southern/Western posting for several years should consider this condition carefully before paying the fee.

The recruitment process consists of:

  1. Tier-I Preliminary Examination

UIIC AO Probation

During probation, officers may undergo theoretical/practical training.

Licentiate Examination requirement: Officers are required to pass the non-life Licentiate Examination conducted by the Insurance Institute of India during probation. Confirmation is linked to passing this examination.

⚠️ UIIC AO Five-Year Service Bond

Before joining, selected candidates must undertake to serve UIIC for a minimum period of five years, including probation.

A candidate resigning before completion of the bond period may be liable for liquidated damages equivalent to the actual gross salary paid, subject to the maximum prescribed by UIIC of up to one year's gross salary.

In addition, the notification specifies ₹35,000 towards Onboarding and Integration cost.

Where resignation takes place after one completed year but before five years, the liquidated damages are to be reduced proportionately according to the conditions in the notification.

Do not confuse the two five-year conditions: the notification contains both an initial posting-related five-year condition and a five-year service bond. Candidates should consider both before accepting appointment.

EWS Certificate — Important 2026 Rule

Candidates claiming EWS reservation should carefully check the Income & Asset Certificate requirement.

UIIC states that the relevant income is for financial year 2025–26 and the certificate should have been issued after 31 March 2026.

The EWS income and asset conditions, prescribed property limits and competent authority requirements should be checked in the official notification before claiming the category.

  • Ignoring the separately timed Preliminary sections.
  • Forgetting the one-fourth negative marking rule.
  • Assuming the Generalist descriptive marks count in final merit.
  • For Hindi Officer, overlooking the precise Hindi-English qualification combination.
  • Assuming every female candidate receives a fee exemption.
  • Ignoring the five-year initial posting restriction.
  • Ignoring the separate five-year service bond.
  • Uploading the declaration/signature in capital letters.
  • Using an outdated or incorrect category/EWS/OBC certificate.
  • Waiting until 28 September to complete registration and payment.

  • Candidates with marks just below 60% who are expecting mathematical rounding.
  • Candidates who cannot relocate to Southern/Western India for a prolonged initial posting.
  • Candidates planning to leave the organisation within a short period, because the five-year bond has financial consequences.
