Eligibility Criteria (For Reference)

Age Limit (as on 01 January 2027)

• Flying Branch (AFCAT & NCC Special Entry): 20 to 24 years — born between 02 January 2003 and 01 January 2007 (both dates inclusive)
• Ground Duty (Technical/Non-Technical) Branches: 20 to 26 years — born between 02 January 2001 and 01 January 2007 (both dates inclusive)

Educational Qualification — Flying Branch

• Minimum 50% marks each in Mathematics and Physics at 10+2 level, OR
• Graduation (minimum 3-year degree course) in any discipline with minimum 60% marks, OR
• B.E./B.Tech (4-year course) with minimum 60% marks, OR
• Candidates who have cleared relevant sections of AMIE/Aeronautical Society examinations

Marital Status

Candidates must be unmarried at the time of commencement of the course; marriage is not permitted during training. A candidate who marries during the training period will be discharged and made liable to refund all expenditure incurred on them by the Government.

• 100 questions, maximum 300 marks

Pay & Career (For Selected Candidates)

Candidates selected through AFCAT are appointed as Flying Officers in the Indian Air Force. Pay follows the 7th Pay Commission structure — basic pay for a Flying Officer starts at ₹56,100 per month (Level 10 pay matrix), in addition to Military Service Pay (MSP), Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance, and other benefits.
