About HPCL

Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited (HPCL) is a premier Government of India Enterprise under the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas (MOP&NG). It is engaged in refining, storage, distribution, and a vast marketing network consisting of refineries, zonal offices, regional offices, terminals, pipeline networks, aviation service stations, LPG bottling plants, and inland relay depots spread across India. Eligibility Criteria

To be eligible for the HPCL Graduate Apprentice Trainee program 2026-27, candidates must meet all the following strict criteria:

• Nationality: Only Indian nationals are eligible to apply.
• Educational Qualification: Full-time Engineering Graduation in Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or Instrumentation from a recognized university/institute.
• Minimum Marks (Strict Rule):
  • For UR (Unreserved) and OBC-NC candidates: Minimum 60% aggregate marks across all semesters/years.
  • For SC, ST, and PwBD (VH/HH/OH/MD) candidates: Minimum 50% aggregate marks across all semesters/years.

• Age Limit: Candidates must be between 18 and 25 years of age as on 31 July 2026.
  • Age relaxation is applicable: 5 years for SC/ST, 3 years for OBC-NC, and 10 years for PwBD (VH/HH/OH/MD).
• Work Experience: Candidates who have already acquired one year or more of work experience are not eligible to apply.
• NATS 2.0 Registration: A mandatory prerequisite. Candidates must be registered and approved on the National Apprenticeship Training Scheme (NATS 2.0) web portal and by the Board of Apprenticeship Training (BOAT). HPCL will only consider candidates who are officially approved on this portal.
• No Existing Contract: Candidates must not have an existing apprenticeship contract with any other organization under the Apprentices Act, 1961 on the NATS Portal. If found, the candidature will be cancelled and the apprenticeship will be terminated.

Stipend and Training Details

The engagement provides a highly competitive stipend package for a one-year duration:

• Monthly Stipend: ₹25,000/- per month.
  • HPCL Contribution: ₹20,500/- per month.
  • Government of India Contribution (DBT Scheme): ₹4,500/- per month directly transferred to the apprentice.
• Training Period: The engagement will be for a period of one year only.
• No Additional Benefits: There is no obligation on HPCL to provide housing assistance, transportation, or any other allowances apart from the fixed stipend amount.

Important Note: The apprenticeship does not guarantee permanent employment. However, successful completion of the apprenticeship provides a valuable edge—HPCL offers relaxation in age (up to the period of training, not exceeding 1 year) and an additional 5% grace marks in the Computer Based Test (CBT) for future recruitment examinations within the Corporation.

Selection Methodology

The selection process for the HPCL Apprenticeship is purely merit-based and transparent:

1. Merit Screening: Applications will be screened strictly based on the aggregate percentage of marks as per the eligibility criteria.
2. Document Verification (1:5 Ratio): Candidates will be called for document verification in a ratio of 1:5 (i.e., 5 candidates for every 1 training slot). Shortlisting is done in order of merit based on the marks obtained in the qualifying degree.
3. Final Merit List: A final merit list will be prepared based on the candidates who reported for document verification and were found suitable.
4. Engagement: Candidates will be engaged in merit order upon accepting the tri-partite apprenticeship contract on the NATS website, submitting a medical certificate in the prescribed format, and passing the police verification.

Important: No TA/DA will be paid for appearing in the document verification process. Incomplete or ineligible applications will be summarily rejected without any intimation.

8. Final Submission: Carefully read the declaration, check the declaration boxes, and click on "Final Submit".
9. Note Your Application Number: After submission, you will receive a confirmation email on your registered email ID containing your unique HPCL Application Number. Save this for future reference.
