📌 Post‑wise Skill Test Scheme (Shorthand & Typing)

The skill test is conducted in either English or Hindi, except for certain posts where language is fixed. A common test is held for most posts, while Jr. Stenographer (English) and Jr. Stenographer (Hindi) have separate tests.

Note: Candidates who opt for Hindi as the medium of skill test will not be considered for the post of Jr. Stenographer (DUSIB) which requires English shorthand. The font for Hindi is KrutiDev / Mangal (Remington GAIL) on a normal English keyboard.

📖 Shorthand Test – Dictation & Transcription Timings

All candidates will receive a 10‑minute dictation at the required speed. No extra time is given for reading the passage. Transcription must be completed on computers within the prescribed time limits. Below are the post‑wise transcription times for normal and PwBD candidates.

⌨️ Typing Test Details (After Shorthand Transcription)

After the shorthand test, a typing test will be conducted. Candidates will be given a printed passage to type on the computer. The duration and required speeds are as follows:

Candidates are allowed to restart typing the same passage if they complete it before the 'STOP TYPING' signal. No extra time will be given.

📋 General Instructions for Candidates (Must Read)

• Reporting Time: Candidates must report at the centre as per the time mentioned on the e‑admit card. No entry will be allowed after reporting time under any circumstances.
• Documents to Carry: Original e‑admit card and an original valid government photo ID proof (with clear photograph). If the ID does not show date of birth, carry an additional original document such as Matriculation certificate, marksheet issued by CBSE/ICSE/state board, birth certificate, or category certificate.
• Photo Attendance Sheet: Will be provided at the centre. Sign it, affix thumb impression, and complete the required writing in the presence of the invigilator. Candidates may retain the e‑admit card after the exam.
• Prohibited Items: Mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, other electronic gadgets, metallic items, books, notes, loose sheets – strictly prohibited. No arrangement for keeping such items at the centre.
• Computer & Keyboard: The board will provide computer, keyboard, and shorthand notebook. Candidates must bring their own pencil/writing instrument for shorthand. Check the computer and keyboard before the test begins; any complaint must be raised before the announcement of "START TYPING".
• During the Test: After shorthand dictation, transcription must be done on the computer. Stop typing immediately when the "STOP TYPING" signal is given. Do not touch the keypad after the signal – all remaining activities (including printing) will be done by lab staff. Unauthorised actions will lead to cancellation of candidature.
• Unfair Means: Any candidate found using unfair means or impersonation will be debarred from all DSSSB examinations for life, and legal action may be initiated.
• Provisional Candidature: The skill test is provisional. Mere appearance or issuance of e‑admit card does not confer any right to the post. Final selection depends on document verification and eligibility.
• VH Category: The skill test for visually handicapped (VH) candidates will be conducted separately; schedule to be issued later.

♿ PwBD Candidates: Exemption from Typing Test (Annexure‑A)

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) who are permanently unfit to appear in the typing test due to a physical disability may be exempted. Such candidates must submit a Medical Certificate in the prescribed format (Annexure‑A) along with an undertaking at the skill test centre on the date mentioned in the e‑admit card. The certificate must be issued by a Civil Surgeon and clearly state the nature and extent of disability and why it interferes with typing. Without this certificate, no exemption will be granted.
