📢 Income Tax Department Sports Quota Recruitment 2026 — Overview

The Office of the Principal Chief Commissioner of Income Tax, West Bengal & Sikkim has released a notification for the recruitment of meritorious sportspersons for the posts of Tax Assistant (TA) and Multi-Tasking Staff (MTS).

This is a special recruitment drive under the sports quota for meritorious sportspersons who have excelled in various sports disciplines at the International, National, Inter-University, or School levels. The recruitment is being conducted as per the guidelines of the Department of Personnel & Training (DoPT) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports.

🎯 Eligibility Criteria

1. Nationality

The candidate must be a citizen of India.

2. Age Limit (as on 01 July 2026)

Note: Age relaxation of 5 years for UR/OBC and 10 years for SC/ST candidates as per DoPT OM dated 04.03.2024.

3. Essential Educational Qualification

Note: The educational qualification must be obtained on or before 01 July 2026.

4. Sports Eligibility

Meritorious sportspersons will be considered for appointment based on the following criteria:

• 🏅 Represented a State or the Country in National or International competitions
• 🏅 Medal winners in Junior National Championships
• 🏅 Medal winners in Khelo India Youth Games (age above 18 years)
• 🏅 Medal winners in Khelo India Winter Games or Khelo India Para Games
• 🏅 Medal winners in Khelo India University Games
• 🏅 Medal winners in School Games Federation of India (SGFI)
• 🏅 Represented their University in Inter-University Tournaments
• 🏅 Represented State School Teams in National Sports/Games for Schools

Note: Sports achievements must be from 01.01.2022 to 30.06.2026 only.

📋 Selection Criteria

Selection will be based on the following order of preference:

1. First Preference: Represented the country in an International Competition
2. Second Preference: Represented a State/UT in Senior or Junior National Championships with medals up to 3rd place
3. Third Preference: Represented a University in Inter-University competitions with medals up to 3rd place
4. Fourth Preference: Represented a State/UT in Khelo India Youth Games with medals up to 3rd place
5. Fifth Preference: Represented State Schools in National Sports/Games for Schools with medals up to 3rd place
6. Sixth Preference: Participated in the above levels but could not win a medal

Additional Requirements:

• ✅ Data Entry Skill Test — For Tax Assistant candidates (@8000 key depressions per hour)
• ✅ Ground/Field Proficiency Test — To evaluate proficiency in respective sports
• ✅ Document Verification — Original documents to be produced

Tie-Breaking Criteria

In case of a tie, the candidate who has secured a higher sporting achievement during the reckoning period (01.01.2022 to 30.06.2026) will be given preference. If the tie still persists, the candidate who has won more cumulative medals during the reckoning period will be preferred.

Step 1: Physical Application

Applications must be submitted in the prescribed format (ANNEXURE-A) and addressed to:

Step 2: Google Form Submission (Additional)

Applicants must also furnish details through a Google Form using the link or QR code provided in the notification. The link is also available on the official website: www.incometaxindia.gov.in/kolkata/news-updates

Note: In case of discrepancy between the Google Form and physical application, the physical application will be treated as final.

📌 Important Instructions

• ✅ Only one application per candidate will be entertained. Multiple applications will lead to cancellation.
• ✅ Applications received after 30 September 2026 will not be entertained.
• ✅ Incomplete applications or those without photograph/signature/documents will be rejected.
• ✅ Sports achievements must be certified by the recognized authorities as mentioned in Para-5 of the notification.
• ✅ No Travelling Allowance will be paid for Document Verification, Ground/Field Proficiency Test, or joining.
• ✅ Selected candidates will be liable to be posted anywhere under the jurisdiction of Pr.CCIT, West Bengal & Sikkim.
• ✅ Any form of canvassing will render the candidature liable to be rejected.
• ✅ The Department reserves the right to cancel this recruitment at any stage without assigning any reason.
