Educational Qualification (Essential)
As per the Uttar Pradesh State Medical College Teacher's Service Rules, 1990 (As amended), candidates must possess the following qualifications for the respective grades:
For Professor (Specialist):
- Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned specialty (e.g., Orthopaedics, Obstetrics & Gynaecology, Anaesthesiology).
- Experience: Associate Professor for 3 years in a recognized medical institution OR Specialist Medical Officer of Armed Forces with 3 years of Associate Professor experience.
- Research: At least 2 research publications after becoming Associate Professor (amongst first three authors).
- Training: Must have completed Basic Course in Biomedical Research from a recognized institution.
For Associate Professor:
- Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned specialty (e.g., Endocrinology).
- Experience: At least 3 years of experience in a medical institution with an exclusive department or unit dedicated to the specialty, having separate infrastructure and faculty.
- Research: At least 2 research publications in the concerned specialty during the 3-year period (amongst first three authors).
- Training: Basic Course in Biomedical Research from recognized institution.
For Assistant Professor:
- Qualification: MD/MS/DNB in the concerned specialty (e.g., Anatomy, Physiology, General Medicine, Forensic Medicine, Radio-Diagnosis, Cardiology).
- Experience: 1 year as Senior Resident in the concerned subject in a recognized medical institution after obtaining the degree, OR relevant equivalent experience as per the rules.
- Equivalency: Experience gained by a Tutor (with PG degree) or Demonstrator (with MSc & PhD) is considered equivalent to Senior Resident experience.
Age Limit
- General Category: Maximum 55 years (as per service rules).
- Relaxation: 5 years for SC/ST/OBC (UP domiciled), State Govt. Employees, Teachers of Basic Shiksha Parishad, and Govt. Aided Madhyamik Vidyalayas.
- Emergency/Short Service Commissioned Officers: 3 years + period of service rendered.
- PwBD Candidates: 15 years relaxation.
- Chief Minister Fellowship Research Scholars: Up to 3 years relaxation based on tenure completed.
