  3. Thiruvananthapuram Customs — 56 posts
  4. Chennai Customs — 51 posts

Smaller zones like Goa CGST (0), Lucknow (4), Goa Customs (4) and Bhubaneshwar (7) will fill quickly and rank in merit becomes critical for those preferring smaller stations.

📥 How to Submit Online Preferences — Step by Step

  1. Open the portal: https://dghrdcbic.gov.in/allocation/userlogin
  2. Enter your SSC Roll Number, Mobile Number (registered with SSC), Email ID (registered with SSC), and the verification code (captcha).
  3. Click Generate OTP — an OTP will be sent to your registered email ID.
  4. Enter the OTP on the next screen and click Verify OTP.
  5. On the dashboard, first read the Brief Instructions and the User Manual tab carefully.
  6. Click Vacancy Position tab to view zone-wise vacancies; download the PDF for offline reference.
  7. Click Formation Jurisdiction tab to understand which commissionerates fall under each zone.
  8. Click Preferences tab — a drop-down menu will display the 23 CCAs (only those with vacancies in your category).
  9. Select preferences in order of choice (1st, 2nd, 3rd …) for every available CCA. Do NOT leave any option blank.
  10. Click Save to review the entered preferences along with CCA codes.
  11. After thorough re-checking, click Final Submit. A copy will be emailed to your registered email ID.
  12. Download the preference form PDF for future reference.

⚠️ Critical Instructions — Don't Make These Mistakes

  • Single submission only: Preferences can be filed only once. After Final Submit, no changes are allowed under any circumstance.
  • Do not leave blank: Fill preferences for all 23 CCAs (or all CCAs displayed for your category). Missing options are treated as "no preference".
  • No preference = administrative posting: If you do not submit anything by 29.05.2026, the Department can post you to any zone/formation as per its convenience.
  • Merit-cum-preference rule: Submitting a preference does NOT guarantee allocation to that zone. Vacancies fill in order of CGLE-2025 merit rank.
  • Subject to verification: This is not an offer of appointment. Allocation is subject to SSC dossier verification.
  • Tentative window — act NOW: The notice gives only 3 working days (26 May → 29 May). Don't wait for the last hour due to server load.

The CBIC zone preference exercise for CGLE-2025 Tax Assistant is among the most important career-defining steps for every selected candidate. With only 3 working days (26 May to 29 May 2026) to fill an irreversible one-time form, candidates must approach the task with extreme care. Carefully study the 771-vacancy distribution, check zonal jurisdiction (which states/cities fall under each CCA), and order your preferences pragmatically — balancing home-state preference with chances of allocation based on your CGLE merit rank. Larger zones like Hyderabad, Mumbai Customs and Chennai Customs offer more posts but are also more competitive in terms of preference; smaller zones like Goa, Lucknow and Bhubaneshwar will close faster.
